Best Places to Get a Drink in Thomasville, Georgia | Local Bars & Hangouts

You’re not going to find giant nightclubs or anything like that here in Thomasville… but what you will find are some really great places to grab a drink, meet friends, unwind after work, or enjoy a relaxed night out downtown.

And what makes it even better is that every place has its own personality. You’ve got a craft distillery with small-batch spirits, a classic local pub, a laid-back outdoor beer garden, and some really great cocktail spots all right in the heart of historic downtown.

So today, we’re talking about the best places to get a drink in Thomasville, Georgia. Whether you’re visiting for the weekend, new to town, or thinking about moving here, these are the local spots people genuinely love.

If you’re new here, I’m Leslie Bennett with Bennett Real Estate Company, based right in the heart of Thomasville, Georgia. With years of experience helping people from across the country find their ideal homes in Georgia, I give you straightforward, honest guidance to make the process smooth and simple. Whether you’re buying, selling, or just exploring your options, I know this market inside and out.

Alright—let’s get right into it.

1861 Distillery

If you’ve spent any time downtown, you’ve probably seen it right off Broad Street. And what makes it stand out is that it’s not just a bar… it’s a working craft distillery.

They produce their own small-batch spirits right here in Thomasville, which means when you order a cocktail, you’re often tasting something made locally on-site.

And if you’re someone who likes the “behind the scenes” experience, you can even take a distillery tour and see exactly how everything is made.

The atmosphere is a really nice mix of historic charm and modern craft style. And they frequently have events, get togethers, and sometimes even live music. It’s a great place to sit down, try something new, and actually enjoy the experience instead of rushing through it.

This is definitely one of those places that sets the tone for what downtown Thomasville is all about.

Dog & Pony Pub

Dog & Pony took inspiration from British pub culture and turned it into a neighborhood hangout where you feel comfortable the second you walk in.

It’s casual, it’s friendly, and it’s one of those places where you’ll often run into people you know. My husband and I enjoy stopping in at the Dog & Pony while our daughter has her tennis lessons, so it’s become one of those easy, natural stops built into our routine.

They serve beer, cocktails, and comfort-style food with British classics like Bangers and Mash and Shepherd’s Pie.

But honestly, the real draw here is the atmosphere. Nothing feels rushed. You can sit down, talk for hours, and just enjoy being out without the noise or pressure of a big city bar scene.

My favorite drink is the “Earl Grey Had To Die,” and I still can’t fully explain what’s in it… so you’ll just have to try it for yourself.

What makes Dog & Pony special is that it doesn’t try too hard. It’s just a solid local pub that people keep coming back to. And in Thomasville, that’s exactly the kind of place that becomes part of everyday life.

Hubs & Hops

It’s part beer garden, part bike shop — which already tells you it’s not your typical bar.

The vibe here is casual and social. People hang out outside, catch up with friends, and enjoy craft beer and good food in a really relaxed setting.

One of the coolest parts is the back porch area, which overlooks the Ritz Amphitheater. So during events like First Friday, it becomes one of the best places downtown to just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.

It’s also one of those rare spots that feels welcoming at every stage of the evening — families earlier in the night, and friend groups later on.

It’s very much a community gathering place.

The Tavern

The vibe here is lively, social, and casual.  It feels like a true downtown hangout spot.

It’s the kind of place where you can grab a drink, enjoy a good meal, and actually have a conversation without feeling overwhelmed by noise or crowds.

A lot of people love it for a relaxed brunch drink or a simple night out that doesn’t require a big plan.

Sometimes those are the best spots — easy, familiar, and comfortable.

For a spot that feels a little more “city level” you may want to try Liam’s Resturant. It’s got a rustic but refined vibe and the locals love it.  It’s cozy, dim, and slightly upscale, but not stuffy.  They serve craft cocktails that are made in house, craft beer, they have a solid wine list, and a lounge and bar area where you can relax with friends.

Downtown Thomasville

One of the best things about going out in Thomasville is how walkable everything downtown is.

Most of these spots are just a few blocks apart, which means you can easily move from one place to another without ever getting in your car.

You might start with cocktails at one spot, grab dinner nearby, and finish the night somewhere else entirely — all within a short walk under the oak trees and historic buildings of Broad Street.

And that’s something a lot of people don’t expect when they first visit. They think it’s going to be quiet… and then they realize downtown actually has a really warm, social energy at night.

So if you’re wondering what the bar and nightlife scene is like in Thomasville, the best way to describe it is simple: relaxed, social, and full of character.

You’re not coming here for big-city nightlife.

You’re coming here for local spots where people know each other, conversations last longer, and nights feel easy.

Whether it’s craft cocktails at a distillery, a laid-back pub with friends, a beer garden hangout, or a stylish cocktail bar — Thomasville has plenty of places to unwind and enjoy yourself.

And honestly… those simple nights downtown are some of the things people end up loving most about living here.
